# DMPilot review: an honest look from the people who build it

> DMPilot is a good fit if you want comment-to-DM, story-reply and keyword-DM automation without building a flow, for a flat $9 a month, and a poor fit if you need a visual flow builder, WhatsApp or agency workspaces. This page says both plainly, because we would rather you pick the right tool.

## A note on who wrote this

This review is written by the founder, so treat it as a product page with unusual candour rather than an independent verdict. Independent reviews will be linked here as they appear. What we can promise is that nothing below is exaggerated and the shortcomings section is real.

## What it does well

Three things, and they are the three things most small accounts actually need.

- Comment-to-DM on a specific post or any post, triggered by a keyword matched as the exact word or anywhere in the comment, with a fixed public reply (“Just sent it ✨”) under each matched comment. A post, a word and one message: no flow to build.
- Story reply and reaction to DM, which opens Meta’s 24-hour window cleanly.
- Keyword DM replies for the questions you answer every day (PRICE, SHIP, BOOK).
- Inside each message: a tracked short link with click counts and click-through rate, a link button, and, on Pro, an optional email question with consent text.
- A free plan for up to 100 people a month with no card, then flat pricing: $9 a month or $81 a year, no contact tiers.
- Official Meta API only, with a 24-hour per-contact cooldown, and a send that hits a rate limit is retried with backoff.

## Where it falls short

These are choices, not roadmap gaps we are hiding.

- No visual flow builder. Each automation is one trigger and one message, plus an optional email step.
- No WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. Instagram only.
- No AI-written replies. Every automated message is text you write, sent word for word, and anything else waits in the inbox for you.
- No multi-account agency workspace and no product carousels.
- The free plan stops at 100 people a month and 3 live automations; email capture and the reminder DM need Pro.

## Who should pick it, and who should not

Pick DMPilot if you run one Instagram account, want a “comment GUIDE” style funnel or a story-reply funnel on your next post, and do not want to learn a flow builder or watch a bill grow with your audience. Skip it if you manage clients, need WhatsApp, or want AI to write your replies; [ManyChat and its alternatives](https://dmpilot.pro/alternatives/manychat) are the better fit, and the [DMPilot vs ManyChat](https://dmpilot.pro/vs/manychat) comparison is blunt about it.

## How to evaluate it yourself before you pay

Start on the free plan, connect Instagram, create a comment-to-DM automation on an old post with a made-up keyword, and comment that keyword from a second account. You should see the public reply and the DM within seconds, and one click on the link in the dashboard stats. If that loop does not feel simple, DMPilot is not for you and you have lost nothing.
