Is DMPilot legit and safe to connect to Instagram?

Yes. DMPilot connects through Meta’s official Instagram Messaging API via an approved technology provider, never asks for your Instagram password, can only message people who commented, replied or DMed you first, and can be disconnected in one click from the dashboard.

What DMPilot is and who runs it

DMPilot is a small Instagram DM automation tool for creators and small businesses, built and run by an independent founder (pratieee, @attenisalluneed on X). It does three things: sends a DM when someone comments a keyword on your post, sends a DM when someone replies to your story, and answers DMs that contain a keyword. It can add a tracked link, a link button and an email question to those messages. That is the whole product, on purpose.

It is not affiliated with Meta or Instagram. Like every legitimate automation tool it is a third-party app that you authorise through Meta’s own consent screen, and that Meta can revoke at any time.

How it gets access, and what it never sees

You sign in to DMPilot with Google or with a code emailed to you. To connect Instagram you are sent to Meta’s login page, not ours; DMPilot never asks for and never stores your Instagram password. Meta then issues an access token scoped to messaging and comments on your professional account. That token is encrypted at rest.

DMPilot receives webhook events for comments, story replies and DMs to your account, and only acts on the ones that match an automation you created. It does not read your other conversations, does not post, follow, like or scrape, and does not use your data or your audience’s data to train AI. The privacy policy spells out retention and deletion.

Why it cannot get your account banned the way bots do

Bans come from automation that impersonates you: browser bots and unofficial apps that log in with your password and mass-DM strangers. DMPilot cannot do any of that even if it wanted to, because the official API only allows messages to people who acted first, inside Meta’s 24-hour window, with one private reply per comment. DMPilot also applies a 24-hour per-contact cooldown, and backs off and retries a send that hits a rate limit. The rules guide covers every constraint.

What it costs and how to leave

There is a free plan with no card: up to 100 people a month, up to 3 live automations and one Instagram account. Pro is $9 a month or $81 a year, flat, cancellable from the billing page with access continuing to the end of the paid period. Disconnecting Instagram is one click in the dashboard and stops all processing immediately; deleting your account removes your data within 30 days. See pricing.

Honest limits

DMPilot has no flow builder, no WhatsApp or Messenger and no multi-account agency workspace. If you need those, a bigger tool is the right choice and the ManyChat alternatives page says so plainly.
